Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.
Ridicule is man's most potent weapon, but the preconditon is that the opposite side person cares about your side. It is hard for human beings to get mad to or feel happy with strangers to them.
In the normal cases, ridicule can arouse man's anger, break their rational mind and led them to the road of failure. So using ridicule as a tactic to your opposition is not a bad choice for your own advantage.

I would like to talk about rule 5.

"If you have something that you don't want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn't be doing it in the first place".
As the social networking developes on the internet, people bagan to share their lives to the world. We are in a dilemma of willing to share our lives to others but also want to keep our privacy to people we do not know. So this statement is somehow confused and need to restate. We can get self identificatin on the social networks like facebook, youtube, or myspace. The young generations are sticky on these social networking sites everyday becase they need others attention. They upload photos, write blogs and chang their status regularly.
However, there is still something people do not want to let others know, like their own secrets, at least do not want to let the people they are not familiar with to know. As technology developed, a function called "permission" can be added on the social networks. You can control who can view your page, your photos and blogs. So the statement is kind of excessive and need to restate.

"Connected and disconnected?"
As internet developed these years, social networking has become a main composing part on the web. For example, Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Digital social networking connects people together by sharing lives and ideas throughout the world but also disconnects people for lacking of communication in the real life.
Nowadays, under the technology's development, we express ourselves by facing computers rather than face to face talking. It is quick and convenient to edit online status on MSN or Facebook. Moreover, this kind of mood sharing is synchronous to all the friends on your MSN/Facebook/Twitter. That's why people are sticky with Facebook and can not stop to keep refreshing the page to see the newsfeeds. The true life would be ignored by people when he or she is into the virtual world such as computer games. Social networking is the same. It is amazing because people can rebulid their profile in this new world by uploading the nice photo shots of themselves or just expressing their bright side of personalities. It is a process of self-identification. However, this process can also be seen as a disconnection with the true world because the virtual world can not be trusted and it is hard to let people rely on each other just base on the communication online.
